Book Review: Love, Rosie

Let me give you an overview about the novel first. Rosie and Alex has been friends since they were little. They had each other’s back since they could walk and talk. Saying that they were ‘inseparable’ would be an understatement. But due to some circumstances, Alex and his family had to move to Boston. That leaves Rosie alone. Then there’s this dance party at school and Rosie invited Alex to come with him but unfortunately, Alex didn’t make it. That’s where Rosie made the biggest mistake of her life. But it’s not really a mistake, it’s a blessing. Eventually, Alex met someone in Boston and he married her. Rosie also married a bank manager. They had their own families but both didn’t wok out.

Is that overview too much or just enough? I hope I hadn’t spoiled you, guys.

“There aren’t many sure things in life, but one thing I know for sure is that you have to deal with the consequences of your actions. You have to follow through on some things.”

Love, Rosie is a cute read. I had so many what if’s and what could have been’s. What if Alex didn’t moved all the way to Boston? What could have happened if Alex and Rosie just got married right away? Well of course, if Alex hadn’t moved to Boston then there would be no plot twists! I had a love-hate relationship with this book. I loved their character’s but I hate that they can’t admit to each other their feelings! Where did it lead them? Broken marriages and a messy life. I also hated Rosie’s asshat of a husband, and Alex’s second wife.

What I really loved about this book is Rosie’s maternal love for her daughter. And that she pursued her education. She might have had Katie at a young age, but she never let her feel that she isn’t loved. Love, Rosie proved that age is just a number when it comes to love. Overall, I enjoyed the book, but I was looking for more details. I didn’t really expected some of the happenings. But I loved the way it was written. Totally a page turner! It’s a great story about family, friendship and love. This book also thought me how to stay strong. That you should not let your problems overcome you.

It is an epistolary novel. Meaning, it is written in telegraphs, diary entries and the like.
